Planning and Performance Management (PPM) |
PPM is responsible for the strategic planning of DoD's business operations, as well as conducting enterprise-wide performance management activities. PPM develops the DoD’s SMP, which sets the strategic direction for the Department’s business operations and is aligned with the Department’s overarching strategic goals outlined in the 2010 QDR. PPM is also responsible for overseeing implementation of the GPRA Modernization Act of 2010. PPM orchestrates internal and external governance bodies for the Office of the DCMO, including the Defense Business Council. PPM serves as the focal point for relations with the Executive Branch, leading and coordinating interactions with the White House and the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). PPM also guides and supports the Department’s health IT transformation initiative in coordination with the Department of Veteran’s Affairs. PPM also serves as the lead for Government Accountability Office (GAO) and DoD Inspector General (IG) matters relating to or impacting DoD business operations. This function includes addressing DoD business-related areas on the GAO’s biannual High-Risk List. As a CPI/LSS Center of Excellence, the Directorate also provides business performance improvement experts and outreach capabilities (i.e. LSS, Business Process Engineering, and Business Process Modeling Notation) to the Department and Federal customers worldwide.
