"Thinking Differently – BIG DATA: Apache Hadoop, a Change Agent."
Mr. Charles Zedlewski, Vice President, Cloudera, gave an informative presentation, titled "Thinking Differently – BIG DATA: Apache Hadoop, a Change Agent." He explained that Apache Hadoop is a technology, an open source project, a stack of interrelated technologies, and an ecosystem. Above all he explained, it provides a very different way of acquiring, storing and interacting with data. During his presentation, Mr. Zedlewski provided an overview of the technology, its origins, what’s different about it, where it is being used in Government including DoD, and what that means for organizations where management requires accurate and timely business intelligence from authoritative data sources.

Mr. Zedlewski is an industry leader in Apache Hadoop data management systems. He is responsible for the strategy, requirements, and design of all Cloudera products. Charles is a recognized expert in the field of BIG DATA and Apache Hadoop in particular. He is a regular speaker at industry conferences such as Gluecon, Hadoop Summit, Hadoop World and HBascon. He is frequently quoted in industry publications including AllThingsDigital, Gigaom, PCWorld, eMarketer, InfoQ, The Register and more. He previously served in several product executive positions at SAP, the industry leader in enterprise applications. He has also led several new product initiatives at SAP that have gone on to receive significant critical acclaim. More than $100 million product revenue has come from these new product initiatives. Prior to SAP, he held a number of other product roles at small venture backed startups and at BEA Systems. He received his B.A. from Carleton College and his MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
